| What's That Darkeness by my Baseboards?
Darkness near the edges of some rooms is called "filtration soiling". It is caused by air flow between the wall and the floor and is also found under room doors and closet doors sometimes. The cause is microscopic particals of dirt and dust that is trapped deep in the carpet fiber and accumulates to the point of being visible. Although regular vacuuming the edges with a crevace tool attachment on your vacuum cleaner will help, once you begin to see this type of soiling, it is usually too late for a simple vacuum to get out. Filtration soiling cleaning is never a sure thing due to the many variables involved. If you burn candles on a regular basis, for instance, some of this type of soiling is going to be soot from the candles. In most cases, Clean-N-Dri can dramatically improve the visual effects of filtration soiling, and sometimes it can be completely removed. But we also want you, our customer to know that filtration soiling often leaves some degree of permanent discoloroing that cannot be completely removed. We also want you to know that this condition has less to do with how well you keep home and more to do with construction methods used to build your home. |
