| What's Wrong With Steam Cleaning?
Steam cleaning (also known as 'hot water extraction') is no longer the recommended process for getting carpets clean. In fact, many carpet manufactureres will instantly void the warranty on any carpet that has been subjected to steam cleaning. Why? Read on ... Consider how steam cleaning works. First, it relies on chemical reactions to break the soil loose from the carpet fibers, there is no scrubbing action. The soil that is broken loose is driven deep into the carpet and padding under high pressure. If all of this chemical saturated water, that now has the dirt and grime in it is removed, then we are good to go. But wait a minute ... If all that dirty water really is removed, then why is your carpet wet for a day or two ... or sometimes even three? Logic reveals that the dirt, along with the harsh chemicals are left behind in all that soggy carpeting. Steam cleaners would have us believe that they removed the dirt. But that would mean that they somehow manage to extract the dirty water and leave only clean water in the carpet. Hmmmmm ... that sounds like quite a trick! Beyond the obvious problems with actually getting the soil out, there is the issue of soaking wet carpeting for a number of days. Not only is it uncomfortable to walk on, but it soils much faster as it collects dust and debris and prevents it from being vacuumed. Instances where carpeting has been repeatedly cleaned with this method often result in premature carpet replacment due to the backing rotting and coming apart. Ahhh ... no wonder some manufacturers void the warranty after a hot water soaking! Beside the soil left in the carpet, there is also a tremendous amount of harsh chemicals left in and under the carpet. After steam cleaning is done, and after the carpet is finally dry, you will notice the carpet is "crunchy" when you walk on it in your bare feet. This condition is caused by left over waste and chemical residue that will also collect dirt and cause soiling much faster. And if your have kids or pets, do you really want them down there in all that chemical waste? Chemical waste that still has the original dirt in it? We didn't think so. Now ... the GOOD NEWS!! Clean-N-Dri Carpet Cleaning uses a low moisture system and 100% natural cleaning agents to remove soil and leave the carpet clean, dry and soft with no residue.
